I have other problems as well as my hips needing replacing and Mr Stafford was completely on board with these and my treatment was explained and tailored to my particular needs. Attention to detail was particularly impressive.

Giles Stafford is an excellent surgeon. From the first consultation right through to the post operative care and checks I have found him to be highly professional, very approachable and incredibly patient. My recovery has been brilliant. He explained my diagnosis clearly and the options which were available to me. Being a first time surgical patient, he was attuned to my nervousness and very kindly made extra time to see me and answer a thousand questions! I was very reassured by this patient-centred approach which prepared me thoroughly. His attention to detail, superb skill and insistence on100% accuracy through the planning OPS process means that my hip replacement has been perfect. He has enormous amounts of energy and is always positive and upbeat. I was very reassured by his continual monitoring of my progress in the weeks and months after my operation. He has an innovative approach to recovery which has meant that my return to “normal” life and activities has been faster than I could ever have imagined possible – 7 weeks post op and I was swimming in the sea off southern Italy! Looking back now (4 months post op) I am amazed at how pain free the process has been – Giles uses very effective focused pain relief - and my lack of bruising was testament to Giles’ skill and talent. I often forget I even have a hip replacement! When Giles is your surgeon, you are also in the care of a fantastic team – a great anaethestist, amazing physiotherapists (I never dreamt that I would be doing glute bridges and on an exercise bike the day after surgery, but I did and it was fantastic) and the wonderful orthopedic nurse Sean who continues the brilliant aftercare by always being on the end of a phone and checking in to see how you are. The facilities in the Wellington Hospital are excellent (accommodation, gym, catering) and I am full of praise for the wonderful nursing care that I received, nothing was ever too much trouble. I can highly recommend Giles Stafford and if I should need to have my other hip replaced, then he is the only surgeon I would want to do it.

I absolutely recommend Giles as a fantastic surgeon, having had a total hip replacement at the end of April, the results have been brilliant – I feel like a different person. From the initial first meeting through to the surgery day and post care appointments everything runs efficiently which gave me absolute confidence. Giles is patient, attentive and answered all my queries throughout. The procedure itself was relatively pain free due to targeted pain relief to the joint, I experienced a bit of stiffness but the physio after the operation to mobilise you is really effective. After being discharged there is a contact telephone number direct to one of the nurse’s on Giles team should you have any queries which is reassuring. Just three months on I feel amazing and as and when I need the other hip done I will be returning to Giles/his team! Thank you Giles for changing my life for the better!

Fantastic Surgeon and genuinely friendly man, so refreshing to discuss your issues without feeling rushed out of the door, we talked about my case at length amongst other things. Very confident but realistic in what to expect. Results so far have been above and beyond. Explained everything he had done with images from the scope. Having had hip problems for 15 years and seeing so many specialist, I have leaned that seeing a specialist is not good enough, you have to see the top specialist and that is Mr Stafford. Could not recommend more highly

Giles and his team have genuinely transformed my life, and I feel incredibly lucky to have had such amazing treatment and care. This time last year, I could barely exist - I was in constant, unbearable pain and taking unsustainable quantities of painkillers. I couldn’t walk any distance, I couldn’t sit (in the office / car / train / plane) without the pain almost causing me to faint, and I certainly couldn’t ride my horses. Now, following a hip arthroscopy, I'm not only back to doing what I love, I'm pain-free, and have been ever since my operation. I had no post operative pain at all (so the pain control protocol was perfect), I had a really comprehensive rehab plan and support to get me feeling better than ever. I really can't say enough good things about Giles and his team!
